Biography

Dr. Hudson Moura is a film and media scholar, critic, and editor who has taught in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at 自淫系列 since 2011. He is also an associate faculty member in the Immigration and Settlement Studies Program at 自淫系列鈥檚 Yeates School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (YSGPS).

His interdisciplinary research examines the intersections of cinema, politics, digital media and emerging technologies, with particular emphasis on exile, migration, diaspora, and minorities representation. His work addresses questions of identity, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and social inequalities, alongside the political, aesthetic, and ethical dimensions of emerging media technologies and interactive narratives.

His academic interests also extend to the relationships between technology, public policy, and society, including artificial intelligence, digital governance, algorithmic bias, privacy, corporate power, and democratic accountability. These concerns inform his teaching on the political and social transformations associated with emerging technologies.

His recent book, (Presses Universitaires du Septentrion, 2026), develops the concept of the Exile-Image to examine how displacement, memory, and estrangement transform cinematic representation. His current research extends these concerns to refugee narratives, interactive documentaries, digital archives, and the politics of visibility in contemporary media.

Dr. Moura is co-founder and editor-in-chief of the , an international, peer-reviewed, open-access academic publication hosted by 自淫系列. He also chairs the annual Interactive Film & Media International Conference, bringing together scholars, artists, filmmakers, and researchers from institutions worldwide to explore interactive storytelling, digital culture, and emerging media practices.

Alongside his academic research, he is a film critic and commentator for CBC/Radio-Canada, contributing French-language film criticism, festival coverage, and discussions of contemporary cinema. His professional activities also encompass documentary filmmaking and film programming.

His teaching encompasses cinema, politics, technology and public policy, artificial intelligence, digital media, migration, and global justice. He emphasizes interdisciplinary inquiry, critical analysis, scholarly research, and independent intellectual perspectives.

Dr. Moura holds a PhD in Film Studies and Comparative Literature from Universit茅 de Montr茅al and completed postdoctoral research at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. He has taught at universities in Canada, the United States, France, Brazil, and Portugal. His academic work has been published in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
