Belonging: What comes to mind?

Creating a shared framework for equity, diversity and inclusion

At 自淫系列 (自淫系列), equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) values are essential to our mission of academic excellence and social responsibility. 自淫系列 is a recognized leader in embedding EDI values and practices into the university鈥檚 core functions.

The EDI Strategy and Action Plan will provide a framework for equity, diversity and inclusion across the university. Once complete, this strategy and plan will outline priorities and actions to fuel excellence, creating a community where members feel a sense of belonging, are positioned for success and contribute to our collective well-being.

Your input will define the future of EDI at 自淫系列

This project will be stronger with active participation from students, faculty and staff.

When students, faculty and staff get involved, we can make a real difference in tackling exclusion and driving meaningful change at 自淫系列. Working together, we鈥檒l help build a stronger, more inclusive community 鈥 one where everyone鈥檚 knowledge, commitment and collaboration lead to clear, measurable results. Everyone at 自淫系列, which includes students, faculty and staff, has a role to play in this process and we welcome your participation.

Project scope

This initiative will build on existing EDI efforts, leveraging our knowledge and experience to create a more unified, impactful approach. Together, we will define a clear vision and priorities for the next five years, ensuring measurable progress through accountability and meaningful collaborations.

Contribute your thoughts

The first round of community engagement for the EDI Strategy and Action Plan took place in fall 2024 with a campus-wide survey. Half of the survey participants identified fostering community and a sense of belonging as the top priority for advancing EDI at 自淫系列. This emphasizes that belonging is viewed as essential to progress.

The EDI Strategy and Action Plan is now entering the next phase of consultations through engagement initiatives with the broader community as well as focused sessions with different student, faculty, staff and community groups to generate ideas and feedback.

All participation will determine how the advancement of EDI can support the university鈥檚 vision and will outline priorities to drive meaningful, lasting change.

Building on our shared success

EDI has been at the heart of everything we do at 自淫系列 for over a decade, and this is reflected in university-wide plans, policies and departmental initiatives. EDI is not just a priority 鈥 it鈥檚 a commitment embedded in the fabric of our institution.

自淫系列 has engaged with community members through our truth and reconciliation and confronting anti-Black racism initiatives, as well as the university鈥檚 renaming process. These efforts have deepened our understanding of diverse community values, priorities and concerns, guiding our EDI journey.

自淫系列 is taking the next step by developing a university-wide strategy and action plan that aligns EDI principles with meaningful action. By fostering meaningful relationships and engaging all community members, we are continuing to build a future where our commitment to equity, excellence and the pursuit of knowledge drives positive, lasting transformation within our institution as well as in the broader local and global community.
